GLORYA KAUFMAN CREATIVE
Coming in 2024
The Glorya Kaufman Creative Community Center, a first-of-its-kind project shaped bythe Culver City community, will transform the currently unused site at 10858 Culver Blvd. into a 7,500 sq/ft mixed-use space dedicated to the arts, education, outreach, and networking. All programming and services will be offered to the public free of charge, continuing the Wende Museum’s commitment to encouraging access.
Project highlights include:
- Transforming a derelict building adjacent to the museum into a new hub of activity to help the museum better fulfill its mission
- Creation of a state-of-the-art facility including a theatre, classrooms, learning garden, and community gathering spaces
- Free programs and services for community members
- Collaboration among multiple nonprofits
A capital project overseen by the Wende Board of Directors will completely transform the presently dormant City-owned site into a lively “Swiss Army Space” for learning, networking, volunteering, growing, and creating. Reactivating a disused theater and replacing the dilapidated front structure with a new cultural and educational facility, the Glorya Kaufman Creative Community Center will help to alleviate the area’s lack of meeting venues and performance spaces, while also providing space for community organizations to provide education, outreach, and networking services.
