Family Day at the Wende

Family Day at the Wende
Sunday, April 28

11 a.m. - 4 p.m.: Art Making Activities
1 p.m.: Kids Tour

Join us for special kid-friendly activities all day on Sunday, April 28. Program materials and supplies are free!

An old rivalry will be revived this Sunday at the Wende Museum, as the Soviet and American space programs fight for preeminence in the museum’s desert garden! For one day only, our garden will become the launch pad for the next generation of Cold War spacecraft, designed and flown by the Family Day attendees. After choosing a space program to work for, the children will create a paper airplane using templates produced by NASA. Children will be creating elite paper airplanes worthy of the Space Race’s legacy of visionary  technological advancement. Before they are launched, the airplanes will be decorated with symbols and images relating to either the Soviet of American space programs. Then these decorated airplanes will compete on the Wende launchpad to determine how far they can fly. Children are allowed unlimited launch attempts and their furthest effort will be recorded. A special Space Race themed prize will be awarded to the winning plane!

Free. RSVP Here.
