SUMMARY:Cyanotype Printing Workshop with Felix Quintana
DESCRIPTION:This artist-led workshop will introduce participants to the elements of cyanotype printing\, one of the oldest processes of photography\, and walk them through the steps of printing a pre-selected photo of their choice. In conjunction with Vietnam in Transition: 1976—Present\, the theme of the workshop will be “MEMORY”. Thus\, participants are encouraged to submit a photo that holds a significant personal memory in advance of the workshop.  \nTwo 90-minute workshops will be offered\, with start times at 11:30am and 1:30pm\, and pre-registration via Eventbrite is required. \nAll supplies will be provided at no-cost. All ages are welcome to participate and slots are limited. Maximum of two registrants per party. \nTeaching Artist Bio: Felix Quintana is a multidisciplinary artist\, photographer\, and educator. Quintana’s work spans photography\, digital media\, drawing\, collage\, and writing. He received a BA in Studio Art from Cal Poly Humboldt (2014) and an MFA in Photography from San Jose State University (2021). Select exhibitions include LAXART\, Vincent Price Art Museum\, San Jose ICA\, Center for Photography Woodstock\, Los Angeles Municipal Gallery\, and Chinese Culture Center SF\, among many others. Quintana has been awarded a Lucas Artist Fellowship (2023-26)\, LACE Lightning Fund (2023)\, and Mohn LAND Grant (2023). His work is held in the permanent collections of Oakland Museum of California Art\, Altamed Collection\, and Cal Poly Humboldt. Since 2016\, Quintana has taught photography and media at universities\, community colleges\, cultural centers\, artist run spaces\, and continuation high schools.
