Russia, a Pariah Nation, or an Emerging World Order?

Professor Choi Chatterjee of California State University, Los Angeles will explore two perspectives on the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. She will look at the Western view of the incursion as part of Russia’s long-term agenda of resurrecting their historical empire, and the military and economic aid the West has given Ukraine in response. She will also examine Russia’s successful diplomatic ties with major players in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America who have refused to condemn the invasion or comply with imposed sanctions. This discussion will delve into Russia’s proposed revision of the world order, examining the nation’s material and ideological links with its allies.

A noted historian and the author of several books on Russian history and culture, Chatterjee brings a wealth of knowledge and sharp analysis to the conversation. This program promises to enrich our understanding of Russia’s global standing and its diplomatic influence.
