Exploring Critical Media Literacy: Photography & Visual Literacy
This workshop explores photography and techniques of visual literacy. With cameras now in nearly every pocket and images appearing constantly in daily life, photography has become part of our daily lives more than ever before. Participants will analyze photography with the goal of becoming more critical viewers and creators of images.
The session will also include a look at AI-generated pictures and explore the way reverse image searches can help us judge a picture’s authenticity. Participants will have the opportunity to take pictures during the activity that incorporates the ideas discussed.
Due to the interactive nature of this workshop, it is not recommended for ages 13 or below.
An ADA-accessible entrance to the Glorya Kaufman Community Center is available through the garden gate from the parking lot. It will open approximately 30 minutes before the program begins.
