There is really no apparent theme to this journal-- the author fills the pages with Pink Flloyd and Jimi Hendrix lyrics, “peace” written in various ways, and even an illustration of the Siege of Toulon. The only constant throughout the journal seems to be the artist’s fantastical illustrations of humans and humanoid figures. All of the figures are tall and incredibly slender, with wide eyes, straggly hair, and bell-bottoms. These drawings appear on most of the pages, accompanied by nature motifs, peace signs, hearts, flames, and squiggly shapes. It is very obvious that the author is inspired by Western hippie fashion and cultures, apparent in his sketches of peasant tops, bell bottoms, and long hair. None of the figures seem to adhere to any specific gender; they are just tall, generic beings. This journal doesn’t seem to serve a specific purpose other than being an outlet for creative expression.--C.N., 2021
