This collection of 5 loose black and white photographs records an antinuclear demonstration at Checkpoint Charlie named Aktion "Korso", or "Korso" protest. The demonstrators were predominantly young West Berliners. The photographs were presumably taken by East German border guards or policemen. The protest appears to have taken the form of a sit-in at the Checkpoint. Demonstrators sit and stand in the "buffer zone" of the GDR, just past the white line dividing East and West Berlin. In other images East German border guards are actively trying to remove the demonstrators, and can be seen physically dragging people away. Cars and busses are surrounded by people and prevented from reaching the Checkpoint crossing. Other photographs depict demonstrators forming a human chain across the buffer zone and otherwise acting in defiance of the border between East and West Berlin.
