A figurine of Sputnik 1,which was the first artificial satellite to be put into outer space. Launched into geocentric orbit by the Soviet Union on 4 October 1957, it was the first of a series of satellites collectively known as the Sputnik program, flying over the world. The figurine has sputnik with the hammer and sickle clearly visible attached to a piece of plastic which is attached to a dome with the half of the globe showing Europe, Africa, and Australia. Also on the globe it says "4X 1957 CCCP" refering to the date and place of Sputnik's launch. On the bottom you can wind a music box, but it is no longer working.
