Description

Bronze and red enamel DDR pin. The pin was awarded to mark induction into the Aktivist der sozialistischen Arbeit (Activist of Social Work). The top of the medal is composed of a rectangle with the national emblem of the DDR, a hammer and a compass surrounded by a ring of rye, in the middle surrounded by red enamel. On the back of the rectangle is a metal locking clasp. A bronze medal hangs off the pin. The medal is in the shape of a square with rounded corners and features the national emblem of the DDR in bronze surrounded by red enamel. Engraved in to the back of the pin is "auf sozialischtische art zu leben, erfordert auf sozialistische art zu arbeiten." The pin is housed in a red plastic case and is held in place by a cardboard mount.
