Green pamphlet arguing the case for a memorial at the site of Checkpoint Charlie to remember the division of Berlin and the Berlin Wall. The pamphlet denounces the demolition of Checkpoint Charlie after German reunification and asks the German government to immediately put Checkpoint Charlie under monument protection, and to introduce visible reminder of the Berlin Wall and the border crossing point. The authors Ulrike Wolf and Alwin Nachtweh encourage Berliners and others to remember the Wall and the history of Berlin, and to ensure that the past is properly memorialised. They warn against insulting history by erasing it, and support the opening of a museum on the historical site. Opinions were divided on the subject of memorialising the Wall after its fall; some felt that reunification should be embraced fully and did not initially support the protection of the Berlin Wall as a historical monument.
