Section of Bochmann's textbook in I. Personenidentifizierung Lehrbuch explaining how to compare ears to authenticate identity of people crossing the border. The section is comprehensive, and explains that, while ears are difficult to change and a good indicator of authentic identity, they are often too small in passport pictures, so the border guard must stick to certain characteristics of ears: the spacing of the ears, the form of the ear, the curve of the ear rim and its shape, and the earlobe. He also notes that earrings can affect the border guard's ability to analyze the ear. This section also includes five diagrams of different types of ears: anatomical diagram of an ear with all parts labelled, the basic shapes of ears, ear spacing, forms of the ear rim, and forms of the tragus and earlobe.
