The 1st edition (2nd printing) of "Nuclear War," a card game released in 1965, published by Flying Buffalo Inc. in Los Angeles, and designed by US aerospace engineer and inventor Douglas Malewicki. The object of the game is to "gain world dominaton," with each player representing a world power. The instructions list the following strategies the player may take: nuclear warmonger, propagandist, careless war-triggerer, and strategist. Many of the cards mock the global politics of the Cold War by reducing the infliction of nuclear disaster and decimation of millions of people down to strategy. Imagery on the cards reference several themes and movements of the Cold War era, including the space race, protests against nuclear bombs, and "top secret" explorations of alternative modes of warfare, such as "germ warfare" (represented by the character Super Germ).
