'USSR in Construction' was a photographic propaganda magazine published from 1930 to 1941, and again in 1949, serving as a foreign relations tool to portray a postive image of the developments of the USSR to an audience abroad. The magazine featured many popular writers, graphic designers, playwrites, and photographers through out its publication. The style is in line with other early 20th century photo magazines. It was published in four languages: Russian, English, French,German, and Spanish in 1938. It was later succeded by another magazine, 'The Soviet Union', in 1950. This issue features articles about: "Creative Labour", "Stalinogorsk", "Soviet Porelain", and "Spring Sports Season in Moscow". These articles are accompained by a mix of black and white and color photographs. The front cover features a photo of "Valentina Khrisanova, Stalin Prize Winner, foreman of a youth brigade at the Moscow Electric Lamp Works." The back cover features a photo of " View of Petrodvoretz, near Leningrad, showing some of the fountains restored since world War II. A replica of the famous Samson sculpture, filched by the Germans during the occupation, may be seen in the foreground set in a play of fountains."
