Description

A wooden stool placed in the center of the frame is painted with a rough image of St. George on a horse fighting a dragon. The depiction of the story of St. George rescuing a princess from a dragon would normally be hung inside a church, but in this case occupies a more practical space. The slightly decrepit nature of the stool with religious iconography thus references the Soviet practice of turning religious spaces and objects into the atheist, socialist spaces that their ideology required.
