The title of the work, “To the 21st Century- in Peace and Consent!” references the new era of space travel technology that began with the 1957 launch of the Soviet satellite Sputnik. In this image, a spaceship is outlined in white with stars visible through it; the Earth is depicted on top of the spaceship; and multi-color paint strokes are coming out of the exhaust in place of flames. The peaceful message across the top in conjunction with the protected circle around the Earth promotes the necessity of the whole world working together towards a peaceful future.
