A man with a tongue that turns into a snake choking him looks directly at the viewer while gripping the coils of the snake around his neck. The title, “My tongue-my enemy,” refers to the era of fear and mistrust under Stalin when a misconstrued phrase or slip of the tongue was enough to send one to the gulag or even be executed.
