A gramophone lying on a pile of potatoes, money and sausages is playing the words, “Eh, what a good life in the Soviet State!,” which are lyrics from the song, “Eh, Good,” by Russian composer Isaak Dunayesvkey written to be performed by Young Pioneers. The gramaphone has a photo of Moscow and the Kremlin painted on one side, while the other visible side is wooden with a crack in it. The positive message of the song playing over this pile of unnattractive groceries and bundles of cash pokes fun at the idea that there was ever a “good life” under the Soviet state’s rule.
