Polish Underground Collection

The Polish Underground Collection is a large and distinctive archive of materials from Polish opposition movements during the Soviet era. Hundreds of periodicals and books illicitly printed between 1968 and 1989 document the scope of underground activity among Polish dissidents, including those active with Solidarność (Solidarity), the first independent labor union in the Soviet Bloc. This collection exists thanks to the remarkable efforts of Tomas Osinski and Teresa Bogucka.

The cataloging and digitization of this collection was made possible by the support of Arcadia – a charitable fund of Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin.
