Constructing Space: A Bauhaus-Inspired Movement Workshop with Samuel Wentz
In this movement improvisation workshop, participants will explore physical ideas inspired by the Bauhaus movement, including simplicity, functionality, and relation. Participants will investigate the body as a tool for measuring weight, distance, tempo, and design. The workshop will begin with a thorough, accessible warm-up and progress into solo and ensemble improvisations guided by simple scores. Through these practices, participants will examine how movement activates and constructs space, treating the body as an active contributor to its formation. No prior movement experience is necessary; curiosity and openness are essential.
This program is part of the Wende Bauhaus series in February and March 2026, in which local artists lead hands-on classes inspired by the Bauhaus school’s learning-by-doing philosophy and its spirit of experimentation, play, and discovery.
