Happy Hour at the Wende

Please join us on Friday, August 24, for drinks and a curator’s talk about art and alcohol.

Art and booze have one thing in common: they share the power to elevate (or depress) the viewer or drinker to another state of mind. Wine played an important role in the rites of early civilizations, and alcohol’s double function as spiritual gateway and physical relaxation—often with erotic undertones—is documented in the art histories of various cultures and epochs.

In a spirited presentation, Wende Museum Chief Curator Joes Segal will take you on an art-historical roller coaster of “too much fun” while we enjoy some relevant refreshments in the museum garden.
