About the Mayme A. Clayton Library and Museum
The Mayme A. Clayton Library & Museum (MCLM) is home to the Mayme Agnew Clayton Collection of African-American History and Culture. The collection contains over two million rare books, films, documents, photographs, artifacts, and works of art related to the history and culture of African Americans in the United States, with a special focus on Southern California and the American West. The collection is one of the most important collections chronicling the history and culture of Americans of African descent in the United States of America.
About Kamau Daáood
A mythic figure in the Southern California arts scene, Kamau Daáood is a performance poet, educator, and community arts activist who is widely acknowledged as a major driving force behind Los Angeles’s Black cultural renaissance. Now with the release of his debut album, Leimert Park, Daáood unleashes his galvanizing spirit on the world.

Music at the Wende is a free concert series in which esteemed musical organizations present programs inspired by the Wende’s collection and mission. Launched in October 2018, Music at the Wende is thrilled to announce its first season, with concerts from October 2018 through May 2019.
All concerts are free. Concerts begin at 8 p.m. and are preceded by a museum tour and reception at 7 p.m. RSVPs open four weeks prior to each event at 10 a.m.
The concert series is generously supported by the Music at the Wende Donor Group. This performance is made possible in part by the City of Culver City, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Performing Arts Grant Program, with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
