Virtual Friday Night Films at the Wende: Deimantas Narkevicius Artist Spotlight
Presented in conjunction with the opening of Questionable History, this week’s selection invites you to learn more about artist Deimantas Narkevičius, whose work Once in the XX Century (2004) is presented in the exhibition.
Produced by the Tate Modern, this studio visit-style episode explores how Narkevičius’s films and videos reinterpret historical events, such as the dismantling of a Lenin monument in Once in the XX Century. In addition, the segment presented by the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art specifically discusses Narkevičius’s work on monuments with special attention paid to his 2015 3D film that traces the removal of several socialist realist sculptures in Vilnius.
