Lecture-Performance by Marina V
In conjunction with the closing of the exhibitions Watching Socialism: The Television Revolution in Eastern Europe and Nonalignment and Tito in Africa, Marina V will present a lecture-performance based on her experience growing up in Soviet Russia. Following the program, there will be a Q&A between the artist and the audience, moderated by Joes Segal, the Wende’s Chief Curator and Director of Programming.
Marina V is an award-winning recording artist, singer, and songwriter with a “hauntingly beautiful” voice (L.A. Times). Born in Moscow, USSR, she won a cultural-ambassador scholarship and came to the U.S. at fifteen to study at an American high school in Springfield, Illinois. Now located in Los Angeles, Marina V has released ten solo albums, written numerous songs for film and television, and performed over 1,100 concerts worldwide with her husband and co-writer, Nick Baker. The award-winning artist continues her work as a cultural ambassador by bridging Russian and American cultures through music.
