Sunday Afternoon Bonkhouse brings a horror double feature to the A-Frame Theater at the Wende Museum ahead of Halloween. David Cronenberg’s Videodrome (1983) follows a television executive who finds a pirate broadcast signal that warps his mind and body. Brian Yuzna’s Society (1989) follows a Beverly Hills teenager who suspects his wealthy family and their circle are hiding something monstrous.
Each Bonkhouse screening wraps its double feature in custom-edited reels of vintage commercials, trailers, animation, and other video surprises chosen to match the films. The series began during the pandemic as a way for editors, artists, and filmmakers to stay connected. It now draws about 100 artists, directors, animators, and film lovers to screenings around Los Angeles.
Content warning: This program includes cult horror films with graphic body horror, disturbing imagery, violence, sexual content, nudity, and mature themes. Recommended for adults only.
Community Partner programs are hosted on site but are independently organized and may not reflect the views of the Wende Museum. For questions regarding this event, please contact the event organizer.
