Interview with Diplomats Kimberly Marteau Emerson and John Emerson

An interview with attorney, advocate and civic leader Kimberly Marteau Emerson, and her husband, John Emerson, an American diplomat, lawyer, and the United States Ambassador to Germany from 2013 to 2017. Kimberly was a spokesperson for the United States Information Agency under President Bill Clinton and is a specialist in the fields of foreign policy, public diplomacy, and human rights. John was the 2015 recipient of the State Department’s Sue M. Cobb Award for Exemplary Diplomatic Service, which is given annually to a non-career ambassador who has used private-sector leadership and management skills to make a significant impact on bilateral or multilateral relations through proactive diplomacy. They will be interviewed about their views on post-Cold War Germany and life in Berlin by Joes Segal, the Wende’s Chief Curator and Director of Programming.

Welcome remarks will be given by Stefan Schneider, the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany.
