Two women sit amongst the columns of Kazan Cathedral, Leningrad, 1977. The women sit side-by-side on the base of a column. They both face the camera, but gaze to the right. The woman at left sits in a more hunched position and holds food (presumably) in a paper wrapper. Beside her, the other woman sits with one arm across her lap and the other is positioned with the elbow on her knee and her chin resting on her hand. She wears a white or very light-colored bucket hat. Between them, a woven bag sits on the ground. Kazan Cathedral's columns rise behind them. The curve of the colonade begins with an out-of-focus fluted pillar in the foreground at left. Others stand behind it in a arc shape that curves to the right.
