A candid portrait shows five individuals sitting outside in the woods at a commune in Solnechnoye, 1977. An out-of-focus campfire smolders along the bottom edge at right. Smoke wafts up from it. Five people sit around it. Three of the people sit on a bench that enters frame from the lower left corner and extends back towards center. The leftmost man sits with one leg crossed over the other. He looks to camera as he holds a cigarette in one hand and a book in the other. Next to hims, a bearded man looks to camera and lifts his head upward as he puffs his chest. A woman sits on the end of the bench at center. She hunches her upper body over her legs. She rests her elbows to her thighs and rests her chin into her fists; she smiles to camera. To the right of this group, 2 men sit on a log. Both face towards the camera, but neither look to camera. The man at right is barefoot and sits with his legs in a wide stance. He rests his elbows to this knees. One arm is raised towards he face; he rests his chin in this hand. To the left of him, another man hangs his head as he reads a book that is resting on his lap. The surrounding forest occupies the background.
