This journal seems more like a structured venture into art creation, specifically because the artist dedicates multiple pages to what seem to be original song lyrics. In addition to that, there are a few illustrations with apparent themes, stories, and artistic voices. Very early on in the journal, there’s a wonderful drawing of a “devil” Rock ‘n’ Roll band that seems to be influenced by, or possibly an homage to, the American band “The Ramones.” The most incredible part of the journal, and maybe the entire collection, is a fantastical and busy scene drawing that spans two pages. The drawing feels like an allusion to Hieronymous Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights, with its emphasis on worldly and otherworldly symbols and figures. In fact, the whole journal is an affair between the worldly and the otherworldly. --C.N., 2021
