The color photographs included in a black two-ring binder record construction work carried out at Checkpoint Charlie between 1986 and 1987. Photographs show the temporary checkpoint structure that was used while construction was underway, as well as different stages of building, and finally, the move into the new complex. The photos demonstrate the transition from a small checkpoint shack to a sprawling complex, with separate rooms for customs, passport control, and spaces able to accomodate a large volume of vehicular traffic. Several of the photos reveal the ubiqutious concrete blocks of the Berlin Wall.
