A roughly 16in cylindrical, wooden trophy with a football perched on top. The trophy has a number of carvings on it including the FDGB logo, the name of the tournament, and two people playing football. All carvings seem to have been done by hand. Most of the trophy is finished wood but some elements, like the logo and the players’ shorts, appear to have been hand painted. The name of the tournament on the trophy “WANDERPOKAL” and the name of the supposed winners “KV WORBIS” does not match any FDGB-Pokal records found in a preliminary search. Given that the trophy is made of wood, is not a replica of an actual FDGB-Pokal trophy, and records of this competition/team are not locatable, this trophy might have been awarded at a semi-professional or amateur level of play. More research is recommended. The Freier Deutscher Gewerkschaftsbund (FDGB) also known as the Free German Trade Union Federation was the umbrella organization of trade unions in East Germany from 1946-1990. They organized a number of sporting competitions including the FDGB-Pokal, East Germany’s national football cup. Starting in 1960, the winners of the FDGB-Pokal earned the right to play in the European Cup Winners’ Cup. SG Dynamo Dresden and 1. FC Magdeburg share the record of most championships won with 7 titles each. This competition was dissolved in 1991 following the reunification of West and East German football leagues.
