This sculpture is a model of a large-scale monument commemorating Belá Kun, who led the short-lived communist government in Hungary in 1919. The heroic image is derived from a political poster depicting Kun as a youthful revolutionary shouting the words “Fegyverbe! Fegeverbe!” (“To arms!”). By government decree, communist-era statues such as the original of this one have been gathered in a single location in Budapest known as Szabor Park.
