Description

A "Jugendweihe 1970/71" orange booklet. The image on the front covers shows a circle with drawings of a male and female, industrial landscape, and shining sun. A Jugendweihe was a secular coming of age ceremony for East German 14 year olds. The booklet was intended to prepare children for the ceremony in conjunction with a series of courses to be completed in the year leading up to the ceremony. The booklet was meant to provide youth with guidlines one how to be productive citizens of the GDR.
