Description

A "Teilnehmerheft; Jugendweihe 1973/74" booklet. The front cover shows a boy and a girl wearing orange/brown clothing and construction helmets. A Jugendweihe was a secular coming of age ceremony for East German 14 year olds. The booklet was intended to prepare children for the ceremony in conjunction with a series of courses to be completed in the year leading up to the ceremony. The booklet was meant to provide youth with guidlines one how to be productive citizens of the GDR. The 1973/74 booklet highlights the work of Angela Davis.
