Two identical copies of a document commemorating the reunification of Berlin in 1990. The certificate shows a drawing of the toppled Berlin wall on either side of the Brandenburg Gate, a highly important symbol of the city of Berlin. A message on the right hand side thanks the friends of Berlin for their support for "untiy and liberty". The certificate shows the four flags of the British, French, American, and Soviet occupiers, as well as the German and Berlin flag. The twelve signatures that cover the certificate are those of: Tino Schiwerzina, Mayor of Berlin; Walter Momper, Governing Mayor of Berlin; Willy Brandt, Chancellor of West Germany from 1969-1974; Rita Süßmuth, President of the German Bundestag; Richard von Weizsäcker, Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany; Helmut Kohl, Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany; Lothar de Maizière, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the GDR; Rudolf Seiters, Federal Minister with Special Responsibilities; three City Commandants and a Military Attaché.
