Oversized dark yellow magazine blue text. This issue focuses on White-Russia (modern day Belarus), specifically the half that was retained by the Soviet Union after the Polish-Soviet War. Utilizing photographs with short accompanying texts, the magainze highlights the rapid development of public infratructure, along with the production capabilities of the agriculture, textile, and building industries. Collective farms are underscored as a key element of Soviet agriculture, as well as national policies that worked to desegregate and integrate the Jewish population into the general workforce. The magazine further emphasizes the achievement of universal literarcy in White-Russia, and the rapid organization of 47 scientific research institutions. Contextual Note: 'USSR in Construction' was a Soviet propaganda magazine published from 1930 to 1941 and briefly in 1949. Printed in the USSR and distributed internationally, it was issued in five languages: Russian, English, German, French, and Spanish (added in 1938). The magazine aimed to promote Soviet achievements abroad through striking photography and avant-garde design.
