Cultural Revolution-era photograph album. Spiral bound with metal binding. Cover features an excerpt from a poster depicting Mao meeting the people of Jinggangshan, which was the site of the Chinese Communist Party's first soviet, and thus, was an important site for the Party's history. Mao is greeted by people from all walks of life, including workers, peasants and soldiers, and by people of all ages. Behind the group are the misty mountains of the Jinggang region. During the Cultural Revolution, Jinggangshan became an important site for tourism and pilgrimage, especially for members of the Red Guard. This poster is also included in the Wende Collection (see 2022.029.063). Poster is covered by clear plastic cover stitched with blue plastic. Interior pages feature photographs with group shots and individual portraits. Photographs are held in with a mix of clear and metallic patterend photograph corners. Many pages are blank. Includes 8 loose photographs, including one large portrait.
