"The Order of the Republic of Tunisia" in the rank of High Officer was offered to the wife of communist diplomat George Macovescu, Mariana Emilia Macovescu, by the president of Tunisia, Habib Bourguiba, in 1967. The piece is made up of a plaque, neck-piece, decoration, and rosette. It is kept in the original box, together with the decision of the State Council of the Socialist Republic of Romania, which awarded its holder the rights to wear the order. The box is a very dark green with a metal clasp and hinges. The inside is padded with a white fabric. The two medals are identical except in size, and the smaller one is attached to the neck-piece which is cyan with four red bars across its length. The medals have five points painted green and red which radiate from a circular device that contains the coat of arms of Tunisia and Arabic calligraphy. Between each point are three silver diamonds. The rosette is the same color as the neck-piece with additional gold and silver fabric and mounted on a black button.
