Description

Chinese Cultural Revolution enamel plate made in Shenyang, Liaoning province. The plate depicts an industrial ideal with steam-engined trains and construction towers, against the background of the city and the rising sun. In the foreground there is a slogan, "Learn from the Spirit of Daqing," which is a city in Heilongjiang province in the northeast. The city gained prominence in 1959 after the discovery of oil fields there, thus attracting attention as a key industrial city in China.
