This item is a FDJ membership book. FDJ stands for Freie Deutsche Jugend and it represents the Free German Youth Organization in East Germany (GDR). The booklet is royal blue and is covered with a plastic protective sleeve. The FDJ logo, the letters FDJ with a sun rising below it, is printed on the front cover in gold. The interior left-hand cover contains instructions on how a memeber should use the booklet. The first page contains the name of the organization, the booklet's number, and the owner's name, Carola Tintemann, printed in pen ink. The next two pages contain biographical information of the owner, a photograph of the owner, her personal signature, and stamps of approval from the FDJ organization. Carola became a member on December 3, 1973 and was admitted to the Hans-Beimler-05 organization of the FDJ. The remaining pages contain membership fee stamps from the years 1973-1980, special contribution stamps, empty pages for awards, and re-registration pages.
