Description

This charged design features a large bare butt wearing a Soviet Army cap with two floating epaulettes with Soviet Army insignias instead of shoulders. The butt has the faint outline of a nose, suggesting a face, and beneath it are the Russian letters “GKChP” in the form of feces. The GKChP was the group of eight conspirators that attempted to overthrow Gorbachev in the 1991 coup, an attempt that failed and led to seven of their members being arrested. The ridiculous image of a butt in Soviet military apparel alongside the title of the poster, “Official Announcement,” mocks the GKChP and their coup attempt, implying that the conspirators and their ideas were as low as fecal matter.
