Description

The fairytale-inspired painting incorporates characters from Soviet animated fairytales into one sketch of a rowboat with a large leaf for a sail. The center of the leaf contains a horse, a man playing a flute, and a hedgehog, all of which are characters from Soviet animated children’s films. The drawings of clouds, a sun, a moon, and stars that are placed around the leaf are apparently done in crayon with a child-like handwriting. The Russian text that follows the outline of the leaf praises Yu Norshtein, the animator of these films, eagerly awaiting his next “amazing, beautiful, film.”
