Electrification

Date Made: 1974
Country: Soviet Union

Measurements: 23 in x 17 in; 58.42 cm x 43.18 cm

Electrification consists of a triangle zig-zag design with horizontal stripes in black, white, light blue, and silver color. Inside some of the horizontal lines have numbers or letters written in pencil, perhaps to indicate the different colors. On the back of Electrification is a sketch of roses in pencil with a signature. The donor writes that the Electrification design was "accepted by the committee of the Rosa Luxemburg Silk factory and the fabric was produced in a limited edition in seven color pallets. On the back [of Electrification] is the serial design number of the drawing #3970 (that corresponds with the passport of the fabric), the approval signature by the head of the committee of the Red Rose Silk Factory, and two signatures by Anna Andreeva and Tatiana Andreeva. This treatment indicates the value of certain kinds of paper for artists working during material shortages in the Soviet Union".
