As with many sacred buildings in the capital, Bucharest’s Great “Polish” Synagogue was imprisoned behind high housing blocks rather than displaced. It was completed in 1847 by the Polish-Jewish community of Bucharest. The photograph shows a synagogue surrounded by a larger building with lots of snow on the ground.
