Flags & Banners

The Wende holds a collection of several thousand embroidered banners and flags, one of its particular strengths. Originating from across Eastern Europe, they belonged to youth groups and military organizations, sports and friendship societies, and factories and mining operations. Often hand-embellished, these banners were presented as gifts or awarded for productivity and achievement in the workplace.
