Music/Words LA: Curated by Inna Faliks

Music/Words LA closes its second season at the Wende with the US premiere of Janáček’s sonata for violin and piano in its early, unpublished version. Czech violinist Pavel Šporcl makes a rare Los Angeles appearance with pianist Inna Faliks in an all-Czech program of 20th-century music that marks the release of their recording on the Pentatone label.

Works by Martinů, Dvořák, Suk, Bodorová, and Gideon Klein complete the program, in dialogue with Czech poems read by a poet to be announced.

Founded by Faliks in New York, Music/Words is a platform for artists working where music and text meet. This Los Angeles residency at the Wende builds each program around close listening and live collaboration.

Inna Faliks is Head of Piano and Professor of Piano at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music and author of Weight in the Fingertips: A Musical Odyssey from Soviet Ukraine to the World Stage.

Pavel Šporcl is a Czech violinist who studied with Václav Snítil, Itzhak Perlman, and Dorothy DeLay.
