Bumdog Torres | THIS STRUCTURE WILL BE REMOVED WITHIN THE NEXT 48 HOURS
In THIS STRUCTURE WILL BE REMOVED WITHIN THE NEXT 48 HOURS, Los Angeles artist Bumdog Torres looks at the beautiful, organic, and tragically short-lived attachments people form to their possessions and the places they live. The installation opens in the guardhouse on Saturday, November 7, alongside Competing Cosmologies: Interpreting the Sky.
Bumdog Torres was born in 1969, grew up in Los Angeles, and left school after the seventh grade. Living on the streets as a self-described “career homeless bum,” he has written, directed, and starred in a one-man play, made two feature films, and self-published nine photobooks and a book of short stories, Sketches of Nothing by a Complete Nobody. His photographs appeared in the Wende’s 2023 exhibition Visions of Transcendence, and in 2024 he received the CCF/J. Paul Getty Artist Fellowship Award.
