Frameworks | 2070: A Sonic Tribute to Soviet Technology

F R /\ M E W O R K S is a new interdisciplinary music series for 2025 designed to take audiences on an adventurous cultural and artistic journey in the state-of-the-art A-Frame Theater of the Glorya Kaufman Community Center, on the campus of the Wende Museum. The series merges creative disciplines, from film and dance to poetry and music, and takes inspiration from the collection and exhibitions of the Wende.

The band 2070 will present a unique performance that bridges the past and the present. Inspired by groundbreaking Soviet-era technological innovations—spanning space exploration, spyware, facial recognition, and recording devices—2070 will use analog and early digital synthesizers to create a soundscape reminiscent of the era’s pioneering spirit.

This performance serves as both a reflection and a celebration of how contemporary technological advancements trace their origins back to the Soviet Union’s ambitious vision for the future. Each note and sound will evoke the ingenuity and resilience of a time when discovery and innovation were driven by a bold determination to push the boundaries of what was possible.

2070 invites audiences to experience not only the echoes of history but also the enduring legacy of the early technological frameworks that continue to shape our world today. Through performance both written and improvised, they aim to spark a deeper appreciation for the spirit of exploration that transcends time, reminding us of the interconnectedness between yesterday, today, and the uncharted possibilities of tomorrow.

2070 is a four-piece rock band based in Los Angeles. The band tours and play shows regularly around the city, have released two full length albums and two EPs, and have opened for bands such as Slow Hollows, Soul Glo, Dowsing and Bar Italia. 2070 has gained a reputation for their pummeling live shows that generally consist of using and controlling feedback, creating unique transitions and many songs played quickly at high volume, and performing in different fashions depending on the atmosphere of the location. 2070’s music scales across different genres, and each member has a passion for the visual arts, interplaying with their performances, music videos, and songwriting.
