Family Day at the Wende: Paint Your Own Matryoshka Doll

Join us in the Wende Garden for a DIY Matryoshka doll painting activity prior to the closing of the current exhibitions.

Invented by Russian craftsman Vasily Zvyozdochkin in 1890, Matryoshka nesting dolls are an internationally recognized symbol of Russian culture. In the late 1980s and early 1990s during Perestroika, freedom of expression allowed for variations on traditional themes, including a popular version depicting Soviet leadership in succession.

Family Day at the Wende is held on the last Sunday of every month, presenting an educational activity designed for children and adults alike. All materials are provided and attendance is free.
