Film Screening: THE SPUTNIK PROJECT with the Stanford Student Space Initiative

Launched in 1957, Sputnik 1 marked a pivotal moment in human history, igniting the space race, redefining the possible, and transforming global geopolitics. Now, in collaboration with the Stanford Student Space Initiative, the Wende Museum is recreating that historic event with the forthcoming launch of a functional modern replica of Sputnik into orbit. This will result in the Wende Museum becoming the first museum in space!

Sage Wu, Niklas Vainio, and Hunter Liu, co-leads of the Stanford Student Space Initiative, will visit the Wende Museum and screen THE SPUTNIK PROJECT, which showcases their journey to recreate Sputnik.

Following the screening, guests are welcome to ask the leads any questions they may have. Reception of wine and light bites will follow.

This program was made possible by the generous support of Skip Victor.
