Busts & Sculptures

The Wende Museum’s sculpture collection, predominantly East German and Soviet, includes busts of prominent communist and political leaders as well as models of political monuments. Some pieces bear the physical traces of protest and reinterpretation following the dissolution of the Eastern Bloc in 1989 to 1990. Among them is the museum’s iconic spray-painted Lenin sculpture, which emerged from the street protests in Leipzig in 1989.
